The Female protagonist's page on the SMT wikia. Specific details that differ from the male protagonist's perspective.
Male Protagonist article on the SMT wikia for the duration of the game. Persona 3 ONLY. FES does not appear in Persona 3 portable.
Personality: Although she is a silent protagonist, in many ways Hamuko is unlike the male protagonist of Persona 3. Hamuko is a much brighter character, shown from her status screens where she appears to be smiling or cheerful instead of the blank look that appears on the male protagonist's face. This is because she is a generally brighter character. Her colour scheme is his direct opposite from the blue hues he uses, since orange is the inversion of blue. Hamuko can be classified as a hard-working individual that integrates herself within her society through her extroverted abilities. Hamuko is outgoing and determined, as well as accepting and willing to lend an ear to those who would need her to listen to them and their problems. She knows how to reserve her judgement and offer advice only if they ask.
Hamuko is a lot more emotional than the male protagonist, as evidenced by how she is able to form relationships with both male and female members of the team where the male protagonsit is limited to female team members alone. This can be both good and bad because her decisions are closely based off her relationship with the world around her until she can see sense. Hamuko has a hard time severing professionalism from close relationships, but when need, she may reluctantly do so and try not to regret what she has done. Her cheeriness is matched by sheer diligence, as she will work day after day in order to get something she wants (such as exam scores), but she will get tired of doing the same thing over and over again for an extended period of time if she feels like she’s not making any impact.
Following along this line of unable to keep routine, Hamuko tends to be quite impulsive when attacking, listening to her intuitions above all else. When fighting, Hamuko wants to clear the fight to get in as much as she can, and risks getting hit and injured more often instead of carefully considering the circumstances or exploiting the weaknesses of her enemies (the player of P3P simply presses the Rush button without consideration of the weakness and strength of the monsters around her). She certainly isn't dumb, but this can be interpreted as simply laziness or the unwillingness to take long with her battles when she knows it can be done quickly. Although she is the field leader of SEES, it certainly isn’t her ability to protect herself and others that makes her leadership legitimate. She does not choose to be leader for SEES, but rather it is because she is the only one of the new recruits that can summon her persona without troubles where the other two could not. She tries to live up to this title to the best of her abilities, however. Self-sacrifice is an important part of her personality, as shown in the ending where she gives up her life just to keep her friends and humankind safe by keeping Nyx at bay using her soul. Hamuko can also be a little naïve, believing that a lot of the time, people aren’t truly evil or villainous, and insists that they are just “misunderstood” or haven’t adjusted to their circumstances, though she may not vocalize this. She certainly doesn't jump to assumptions that Strega is "evil" or villainous, like the rest of her teammates do.
In contrast to the calmer Mitsuru Kirijo, Hamuko often seems like the one without a plan, but rather the spirit and energy of the team with a general idea of how to approach the situation. Yet, despite being strongly emotional, a lot of attempts at flirting will fly over her head. She believes that relationships should take time to form, instead of simple hook-ups and break-ups. Relationships, to her, should be a symbol of trust between her teammates and herself. They should be able to trust each other before anything else can form, as well as helping each other benefit from a healthy relationship. Because of this close relationship she has with her teammates, she is willing to selflessly make the ultimate sacrifice at the end of the game.
Hamuko is strongly individualistic and opinionated about the world around her, keeping and open-mind but always thinking back on which things are things she can agree with, and which need to be amended to better society, and which cannot be mended at all. In some cases, she may seem like meddling but she genuinely believes, more often than not, that she’s actually making a difference. Hamuko is the type of girl who will give herself up to better the conditions of those around her without leaving time for herself or the things she enjoys, often finding happiness in carrying out reforms to better the lives of people around her.
Hamuko is also very responsible. Not only does she juggle the role of team leader, but she also juggles two clubs and a position on the student council on top of her homework. She also feels that she should not regret things that she has done and instead look towards the future. Despite her age, Hamuko doesn't like to give into trends, furthering an individualistic streak. Her true love is music, and when she’s not talking to other people, she can often be found somewhere quiet, music blasting her ears.
Abilities:
- "Wild Card". Hamuko can summon a wide variety of “Personae” as well as switch between them in battle where the other persona users cannot. Although she may only use one in battle, she can store up to twelve in the sea of her soul and switch between them in battle. There is no specific limitation to how she may summon these Personas, other than the bonds she shares with other people through the form of a “Social Link.” Her natural personas are Orpheus, Thanatos, and her ultimate Persona, Messiah.
- Naginata wielding. Nothing special, though Hamuko is capable of wielding a naginata in battle in a fairly skilled manner, but the way she uses it is completely human.
